Kevin Sherwin presents Exchanges: Bridges Unbound!
Experience this captivating concert by guitarist Kevin Sherwin that explores the rich emotional landscapes and cultural contexts of iconic works of the classical tradition, alongside new musical discoveries and original compositions by Sherwin. As part of the performance, Sherwin offers descriptive insights that draw on literature, visual art, and the musical culture of the composer's time. Exchanges offers a dynamic interaction between performer and listener, allowing both to experience the world of the composers as a shared space. This unique program not only showcases the beauty of classical guitar but also uncovers the cultural significance of these timeless pieces, forming a bridge between the past and present.
Guitarist, composer, and conductor Kevin Sherwin has been praised as "absolutely superb, with an immense capacity for self-expression” (Fanfare Magazine). Following his solo debuts at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and Regent Hall in London, England, he has toured throughout North America in numerous programs reflecting his work as a composer and cultural historian. He made his conducting debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall with the Mahanaim Orchestra. As a composer, he has received commissions from Independent Curators International and the Bruce Museum of Art, and his works have been performed at Pershing Square Signature Center and Merkin Hall. “Exchanges,” Kevin Sherwin’s 2024 solo album, has garnered critical praise, receiving five stars from Fanfare Magazine. Mr. Sherwin is an Associate Fellow at Timothy Dwight College, Yale University and serves on the conducting faculty of the undergraduate Mahanaim Music Program in Huntington, New York.
