The Black Inventors Who Shaped Our Lives
Award-winning scientist and author Dr. Ainissa Ramirez has a passion for science and loves to promote a better understanding of it. In her recent books The Alchemy of Us and Spark, Ramirez showcases little-known inventors who made important discoveries and innovations, such as Jim West, the co-inventor of the microphone; Gladys West, who helped to create GPS, as well as New Haven’s own Sarah Boone, who patented an early ironing board in 1892. In this talk, she will discuss a range of diverse inventors who shaped our everyday lives.
