Hip-Hop Hamilton & The Founding Fathers

Hip-Hop Hamilton & The Founding Fathers

Join us for a informative illustrated lecture by Stephen Spignesi's,based on his book Hip-Hop Hamilton & The Founding Fathers. For this talk, Spignesi begins with the three Founding documents of America—the Declaration of Independence, the Acts of Confederation, and the Constitution—and then discusses what might be called the "Top 10" Founders: Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, Paine, Hamilton, etc. The talk includes all kinds of fascinating historical facts and trivia about each Founder, and is accompanied by a slideshow of related images; e.g., Washington's tomb, Monticello, "Common Sense," etc.

Rounding out the talk is music: two songs from HAMILTON are played—"Alexander Hamilton" and "Helpless"— and the audience reads along with the lyrics. A discussion and Q&A follows.

All attendees receive free a tri-fold, color, signed limited edition brochure commemorating the event.

Don't miss our Hamilton theme events all month long.

A specail thank you to the friends of the library for their funding of this program.
