Art in the Afternoon: CLASSES ARE FULL

ALL CLASSES ARE FULL.

Have you always wanted to try a class at Artsplace? Here is your chance to sample up to three classes at no charge! Preregistration is necessary as space is limited. *

Sketchbook 101 with Linda Marino (8 students max per session)

  1. 1-1:45; B. 2-2:45; C. 3-3:45pm Mary Baldwin Room www.lindasmarinoart.com

Developing a sketchbook habit is a great way to improve your drawing skills, develop ideas for new creations and a chance to just play! In our mini-sketchbook class, we’ll cover the basics: review supplies, watch a quick demo on basic drawing techniques and then jump into a simple sample lesson with pencil, pen and watercolor. Paper and drawing utensils provided, but if you have a sketchbook bring it!

Ink & Watercolor with Bob Noreika (8 students max per session)

  1. 1-1:45; B. 2-2:45; C. 3-3:45pm The Loft (upper level) www.robertnoreika.com

For novices or experienced painters alike, this workshop will focus on seeing simple values. Then discover the magic of working with black ink on carved sticks and filling in with splashes of watercolor.

Felting with Robin McCahill (10 students max per session)

  1. 1-1:45; B. 2-2:45; C. 3-3:45pm Mary Baldwin Room www.intuit2arts.com

It’s simply magical! Students will use colorful Merino wool and learn to felt a flower with artist Robin McCahill. Fun and stress free, the flower you create will brighten your home or your jacket and will herald the arrival of colorful spring.

Colored Pencil with Rita Paradis (8 students max per session)

  1. 1-2:00pm; B. 2:30-3:30pm Moss Room (upper level)  www.ritaparadisfineart.com

Working with a master artist, discover VALUE (which is the lightness and darkness of each color). Using worksheets you will also explore LAYERING (which is the nuts & bolts of colored pencil). Completion of this one-hour class will not only fulfill the beginner prerequisite for colored pencil classes at Artsplace, but also bring a new appreciation for the potential of colored pencils.

*These workshops are intended for adult students who have not previously taken classes/workshops with these specific instructors.
