An Introduction to Floral Scanner Photography
This event is perfect for gardening enthusiasts looking for an alternative way to digitally capture beautiful plant and flower images. Ellen Hoverkamp will start with a 25 minute slide-show presentation about her unusual approach to floral imaging with specific emphasis on her collaboration with writer Ken Druse for the book “ Natural Companions, The Garden Lovers Guide to Plant Combinations”.
A 35 minute demonstration by the artist, using a photo scanner and Photoshop Elements, covering the following topics:
. Brief Introduction to scanner, tools, scanner software settings
. Using a scanner for macro photography, abstraction via enlargement
. Creating a plant composition - Using wire to wrap, to suspend, weighing down and propping plants, techniques used to make natural objects appear to stack and float
. Using Photoshop Effects and Filters as a shortcut to creating a finished looking image.
. Discussion of ways scanner photography can be used as an imaging tool applied to crafts like scrapbooking, garden journaling, needlepoint patterns, etc.
