Foundation Gardens and Native Plants: A Winter View
Foundation and entryway gardens can make or break the “welcome factor” of a home or community building, so let’s consider the problems and opportunities posed by this noteworthy space. Learn how to use winter’s lean lines to assess a foundation area and imagine new designs. Learn how to build your plant list during the dark months, a list that includes native evergreens, perennials, shrubs, grasses, trees, moss, and ferns. Create habitat for birds and pollinators while creating an inviting landscape. Informative handout and plant lists included.
Presenter Kathy Connolly writes about landscape design and horticulture with a focus on a healthy relationship between people, plants, and the landscape. Her articles have appeared in numerous newspapers, magazines and on the web.
