Cheshire Author Talk: A Fatal First Night

Cheshire Author Talk: A Fatal First Night

Calling all cozy mystery lovers!  Join us for a conversation with local author Kathleen Marple Kalb on A Fatal First Night, her second Ella Shane mystery. Kathleen introduced her first Ella Shane novel, A Fatal Finale, to a Cheshire Library audience via Zoom almost exactly a year ago.

Set in Gilded Age New York, the adventurous historical mystery series features the swashbuckling opera singer Ella Shane, an Irish-Jewish Lower East Side orphan who finds fame and fortune singing male "trouser roles." But while her opera company's latest premier manages to attract adoring crowds and rave reviews, it also attracts a killer who's a real showstopper.

Both A Fatal Finale and A Fatal First Night (which will be published in April) are or will be available from the library in print and e-book formats.  Click here for a link to the catalog.

Kathleen Marple Kalb, who lives in Cheshire with her husband and son, is currently a weekend anchor at 1010 WINS Radio in New York. A lifelong history buff, she wrote her first historical novel at age sixteen, but thankfully didn’t manage to sell it, finding much better response when she returned to writing fiction after her son started kindergarten.
