Traditional Egg Tempera Painting: Materials and Techniques

Traditional Egg Tempera Painting: Materials and Techniques

The Cheshire Art League is hosting artist Carla Sternberg Koch for their September meeting.  Carla will be doing a Zoom presentation on the materials and methods of traditional egg
tempera. This medium was used widely in ancient times up to the Early Renaissance, at whch point it was mostly
superseded by oils. Egg tempera involves pure ground pigment blended with egg yolk and water on a traditional gesso
surface, which is more absorbent than acrylic gesso. Carla's talk will detail materials and methods and will include short videos showing techniques.
