Murder by the Book Mystery Book Club: Death of a Green-Eyed Monster (online)
Do you like to read and talk about mysteries? Then join us for monthly book discussions, fresh perspectives, new authors and a friendly atmosphere! We are meeting virtually via Zoom for the present. Please note the time change--the Mystery Book Group will start at 1:00pm instead of 2:00pm.
This month we will discuss Death of a Green-Eyed Monster by M. C. Beaton, the 34th entry in this beloved series about Hamish Macbeth, Scotland's most quick-witted but unambitious policeman. Hamish may have met the woman of his dreams in his new constable, Dorothy McIver. Much to his surprise she agrees to marry him, but just as the town of Lochdubh gets ready to celebrate, Hamish finds himself with a new murder on his hands. If he doesn't find the killer fast, Hamish's dream wedding could become a nightmare.
M.C. Beaton died in 2019 but chose her friend and fellow writer R. W. Green to continue her 2 series, this one and the long-running Agatha Raisin series. Death of a Green-Eyed Monster was the first book written by Green. We would like to discuss how this book compares to the orginals, so check out one of the earlier ones if you have the time! These short quick reads are exceptionally delightful in audiobook format as the reader, Graeme Malcolm, has the perfect Scottish accent.
